First:

in my opinion:

glazed/clogged - the surface of the stone looked under light looks shiny with a lot of metal particles embedded into the stone, the stone does not remove metal or remove minimal amounts compared to when is clean, freshly lapped, the stone burnish the edge, does not sharpen it, works like finner stone

in this topic: [www.cliffstamp.com]

I introduced a simple quartz shale stone from Italy in the 600-800 grit range - nothing special just good all around inexpensive natural stone
these days I did a lot of work with it - most with soft SS kitchen knives and when used as single stone with more pressure it started to glaze
then I remembered this - [www.ligatofratelli.com]

cleaning it with water and vinegar solution

I tried it and it works - almost immediately small bubbles were formed on the submerged surface of the stone and after 2 hours there was no sign of the embeded in the stone steel particles and the stone feel more aggressive like freshly lapped with 150 grit SiC

do you have similar experience with other stones or any info about why this works - I am far from scientific knowledge so it will be interested if someone can explain what happened
