Red light filter for edge examination (7 replies)

I can't get a good picture, but for some edge bevels, using a light with a red filter can help highlight the dull spots, showing the light reflection. With most flashlights being very bright these days, a white light on anything but a very true V-gound edge bevel is very hars to see, the slightest convex bounces light back, washing out the dull spots, except for chips and larger deformations. This is just what I have found by trying things, the light in my apartment isn't good unless the sun is shining (in the Pacific Northwest that's not much). I would welcome anyone else's ideas, comments, or results.
