I have been working on this for a while. What you do is get the burr to be minimized as possible. When it is on one side, make short, edge leading, light passes until you do not detect the burr on that side. If you feel the burr on the opposite side, repeat previous technique. When you are finished, it should almost feel like there is a burr on each side of the blade. You can see Michael Christy demonstrate the technique here:
